Ligado is the latest iteration of LightSquared. LightSquared was seen as a enormous problem for satellite navigation and satellite based survey systems. 

LightSquared was the previous ground based broadband network that was proposed across the United States. Testing proved that the spectrum for LightSquared blasted the spectrum used for Satellite Navigation.
